Privacy policy

This page names every third party the site actually loads: Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity and Adsterra. All three load by default; Reject in the cookie banner turns them off and is remembered for 180 days.

Who we are

butcherhero.com is an independent fan guide to Butcher Hero. The site is published by the operator of butcherhero.com; the privacy contact is [email protected]. This policy covers this domain only. Store pages, YouTube, Reddit, Discord and Adsterra are separate services with their own policies.

We do not run an account or payment system. Contacting us by email shares your email address and message with our Cloudflare email-routing service and mailbox operator. Advertising partners may process identifiers as described below.

What loads, and when

The page itself, its fonts and its images are served from butcherhero.com. No third-party font or image host is contacted for the layout.

Three third parties load by default on the first view, before you click anything: Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-MJLXYHFCSX), Microsoft Clarity (project z77h5lmy7i) and Adsterra (publisher 3403020, Native Banner unit 32047966 and Social Bar unit 32047967). They are created by a small loader in the page rather than by a blocking script tag, and they start on that first view.

YouTube is different: the video area shows a local thumbnail, and the youtube-nocookie player is inserted only when you press Play. Once it loads, YouTube and Google receive the request and may set their own cookies.

Default loading, and how to withdraw

The cookie banner is a notice and a withdrawal control, not a gate. A first visit with no stored choice is treated as granted, and GA4, Clarity and Adsterra start immediately. The banner still appears so you can say no.

Pressing Reject stores denied, removes the Clarity and Adsterra scripts from the page, and sets the official GA4 opt-out switch before the tag can report. The denied record lasts 180 days; pressing Accept later overwrites it and restores the default loading. Global Privacy Control is treated as Reject automatically.

The footer link Cookie settings reopens the banner. Clearing site data also removes the record, and the next visit starts from the default-on state again.

Cookies and local storage

Our preference keys store the consent record and floating-bar choice. Google Analytics and Clarity scripts can also write first-party cookies on butcherhero.com. Microsoft and advertising partners may use third-party cookies on their domains. The table lists documented cookie names; provider cookies depend on browser settings and whether their requests succeed.

Google Analytics 4

GA4 runs under measurement ID G-MJLXYHFCSX in the Google Analytics account for this site. It records page views, approximate location derived from the IP address, device and browser details, referral source and on-page events such as outbound store clicks. Google says GA4 uses IP addresses to derive location and does not log or store individual IP addresses.

Before GA4 configuration, Consent Mode v2 sets ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization to denied, with analytics_storage granted and ads_data_redaction enabled. These Google advertising signals remain denied while the separate Clarity and Adsterra loaders start by default. Reject sets the GA4 disable flag. GA4 event retention depends on the property settings; this audit did not establish that setting. You can refuse GA4 with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or block it with any content blocker.

This site starts analytics by default and provides an opt-out. The initial default-on record is a technical preference, not evidence of an affirmative consent click. Use Reject to stop collection on subsequent views.

Microsoft Clarity

Clarity runs under project ID z77h5lmy7i. It records session replays, heatmaps and click/scroll statistics: pages viewed, clicks, taps, scroll depth, browser and device type, and a rough region. Microsoft documents default masking of sensitive content; this site adds no custom input-capture configuration.

Clarity sets _clck and _clsk and may read Microsoft cookies such as CLID, ANONCHK, SM, MR and MUID. Microsoft documents 30-day playback retention and nine months for favorited or labeled sessions, heatmaps and aggregate portal data. Reject removes the Clarity script on the next page load and no recording starts. Microsoft processes this data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Clarity starts by default; Reject or Global Privacy Control prevents its loader from running on the next page load.

Adsterra

Adsterra serves the two placements on this site: Native Banner unit 32047966 inside the content column, and Social Bar unit 32047967 as the floating bar at the bottom of the viewport. Our publisher ID is 3403020. Adsterra and its demand partners may set cookies on adsterra.com, bicea.org and their creative domains to deliver ads, cap frequency, measure clicks and detect fraud.

The placement setup records adult advertising as switched off for this site. Where personalised advertising is shown, you can opt out through Google Ad Settings, the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page, all linked below; Adsterra also honours opt-outs described in its own privacy policy. Reject stops the Adsterra scripts and removes the floating bar; the Hide ad bar control removes the bar for 30 days without touching the rest of the site.

Adsterra starts by default; Reject or Global Privacy Control prevents both placement loaders from running on the next page load.

YouTube

Gameplay videos are embedded from youtube-nocookie.com. Until you press Play, only a local thumbnail is shown and no request goes to YouTube. After Play, YouTube and Google receive your IP address, the page URL and device details, and may set cookies such as VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE, YSC and PREF, subject to the Google Privacy Policy. The embed uses the no-cookie domain, which limits advertising cookies until playback, but it is still a Google service.

Legal basis: your action in starting the video (consent to that embed) and our legitimate interest in showing the gameplay the guide describes.

Legal bases, retention and your rights

The initial bh-consent record reflects default loading. Only an Accept click records an affirmative choice; Reject records withdrawal. For the security and delivery of the page itself we rely on our legitimate interest in publishing the guide. We keep the consent record for 180 days, the bar preference for 30 days, while providers retain their data under the documented periods; we do not keep a separate copy of that provider data.

You may ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of the consent record, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interest. Write to [email protected]. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. The guide does not request information from children under 13; third-party providers have their own age and data policies.

Do Not Track is not a reliable signal and we do not act on it; Global Privacy Control is the signal we honour, and we treat it as Reject.

  • Access, correction, deletion, or a copy of the consent record: [email protected].
  • Withdraw analytics or advertising consent: Cookie settings in the footer, then Reject.
  • Hide the floating Adsterra bar without changing consent: Hide ad bar, remembered for 30 days.
  • Policy changes show a new checked date on this page; the consent record is not extended by a text change.

FAQ

Do you load ads and analytics before I click anything?

Yes. Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity and Adsterra load by default, without waiting for Accept. The banner tells you and lets you withdraw: Reject turns all three off and stores that choice for 180 days. Only Reject stops them; nothing waits for an Accept click.

Which cookies and localStorage keys do you use?

First-party localStorage: bh-consent and bh-consent-at hold your choice and its timestamp, bh-adbar-closed remembers that you hid the Adsterra floating bar. Google Analytics and Clarity can write first-party analytics cookies on this site. Microsoft and advertising partners may also use cookies on their domains; the table distinguishes their purposes and documented retention.

What is Global Privacy Control?

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, the page treats it as Reject: it stores a denied choice, loads no ad or session-replay script, and disables GA4 before gtag.js runs.

How do I change my mind?

Use Cookie settings in the footer at any time. Accept stores granted and loads the tags again; Reject stores denied, removes the tags and disables GA4. The record expires after 180 days, after which the default-on state applies again.
